Take the Arnold Historical Walking Tour
Take a stroll through yesterday in Arnold! Grab one of the new historical walking tour brochures from Mills Hardware, BrewBakers Coffee House & Gifts, Four County Boutique, or the AEDC office and embark on an adventure of Arnold’s history.
The brochure features a map that guides you to each historical sign created by Berni Crow with support from Arnold Rotary. With numbered sites for easy navigation, you’ll enjoy discovering significant landmarks and learning about the town’s story during your journey. As a self-guided tour, you can go as fast or slow as you like, any day of the week!
Remember to have your 2025 Custer County Chief Express “Explore Custer County” ticket stamped when you pick up your historical walking tour brochure for a chance to win $1,000 in Business Bucks. There are several Arnold locations on this ticket, as well as across Custer County, so be sure to visit as many as you can for a chance to win!
Explore Arnold and immerse yourself in the history of our charming community.
The walking tour brochure was created by AEDC and funded by LB840.

April 28 Designated as Community Cleanup Day
Grab your work gloves and roll up your sleeves; it’s time to “make Arnold shine!” Monday, April 28, 2025, has been designed Community Cleanup Day. Everyone who is willing and able is asked to pitch in and give our little piece of Nebraska some much-needed TLC.
If you need assistance cleaning up your property, call Patty Lamberty at (308) 848-2228 or cell (308) 520-4495 or Becky Dailey at (308) 848-2522 to get your name on the list and a group of volunteers will be lined up to assist you.
A roll-off container will be placed at the Village Street Shop from March 15-May 15 for your convenience when cleaning your property. There will be no charge for village residents to use it during this time. Residents are kindly asked to stack items inside.
Please do not leave tires, construction rubble, appliances, batteries, computers, or household hazardous waste in the roll-off container. Household hazardous waste may be placed on the pallet by the dumpster at the Village Street Shop (120 S Broadway St.).
Member of Arnold Rotary, Arnold Chamber, Arnold Public Schools, the American Legion, and Village personnel will be leading the charge. If you are not a member of one of these groups and would like to lend a hand, please contact Patty at the Village office at (308) 848-2228 or any member of these groups. All extra hands are welcome, needed, and very much appreciated!
Arnold Chamber will be providing a meal for all volunteers the day of the cleanup.
Rain date is Monday, May 5, 2025.
