On September 15, 2015, Arnold residents will be heading to the polls in a special election to vote whether they want to continue with the LB840 1% optional city sales tax which funds economic development efforts in the community.
LB840 is the Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act which is based on the premise that communities should have the ability to use their own tax dollars in ways that best meets local needs. Arnold implemented a 1% city sales tax in 2006 and the collection of these taxes expires in 2016 unless residents vote to continue with the proposed extended plan.
Residents are encouraged to review the Arnold, Nebraska, Economic Development Plan for 2017-2032 to learn how funds may be spent and to seek out Arnold Economic Development Corporation board members if they have questions about how the plan works, the election process, or results from past LB840 funded projects.
