It's been hot, but adventurers can find some reprieve at the 9th annual Arnold River Battle to be held this Saturday, July 20, at Hidden Valley Campground.
Bring your kayak or canoe and battle the twists, turns, and natural obstacles (and there are plenty!) of the South Loup River. It's up to you how fast or slow you want to go! Adults and children welcome (children must have a signed waiver by parent or legal guardian).
Registration starts at 12 noon, followed immediately by a cookout at Hidden Valley Campground. The cookout is open to the public, so you don't have to be a participant to enjoy this delicious meal! Participants are asked to drop off their kayaks or canoes at the starting area before coming to the campground for registration and lunch. Competitors will be shuttled back to the start approximately 1:15 p.m. and the battle will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Cost to participate in the River Battle is $25 and includes a bottle of water, T-shirt, and lunch. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place in the adult and children categories.
