America’s most challenging open road race. The Sandhills Open Road Challenge (SORC) is a 55-mile road race held on a winding 
two-lane blacktop road through the steep Devil's Den canyons and into the rolling Sandhills. This three-day annual event, held the first full weekend in August, attracts drivers, families, and spectators from all over the U.S. and is the only race of its kind in the state of Nebraska. Over 100 cars participate in this challenging race. In addition to the road race, the three-day event includes a half-mile and one-mile shoot-out, a car parade, car show, burn-out contest, grudge match drag races, a public barbecue, and an awards ceremony.
