Sandhills Open Road Challenge

America’s most challenging open road race is the Sandhills Open Road Challenge! SORC is a 55-mile road race held on a winding two-lane blacktop road through the steep Devil's Den canyons and into the rolling Sandhills. This three-day annual event held the second weekend in August attracts drivers, families, and spectators from all over the U.S. and is the only race of its kind in the state of Nebraska. Over 100 cars participate in this challenging race. In addition to the road race, the three-day event includes a half-mile and one-mile shoot-out, a car parade, car show, burn-out contest, grudge match drag races, a public barbecue, and an awards ceremony. For more information, visit the SORC website. You won't want to miss this event.

Arnold River Battle

The South Loup River and Hidden Valley Campground is the location for the annual Arnold River Battle held in June. Open to youth and adults, this timed event will challenge those hardy, adventurous souls as the river twists and turns its way through the beautiful Nebraska countryside. Contestants must maneuver the natural habitat of the South Loup River in their kayaks, canoes, and tubes through narrow spots, downed trees, sandy spots, fences, wildlife, and anything else that nature has to offer. It's up to you or your team how fast or slow you go! But the fun doesn't stop there...lunch will be served at Hidden Valley Campground after your wild adventure...after all, you never know what you might encounter on the plains of Nebraska!

Then tour groups are organized to start the tours at noon. It is comprised of private homes or businesses that are open to the public. It’s fun to see before and after renovations, share home decorating ideas, and gather landscaping tips. There is a charge of $12.00 per ticket or $15.00 at the door for the tour with proceeds going to the chamber.

Kegs & Corks Wine and Beer Festival

Arnold will be hosting its fourth annual wine and beer festival, called Kegs and Corks. The event includes tasting Nebraska-made wines and micro-brewed beers and a variety of food. An event that's all about relaxing with friends, good food, good drinks, and music, there will also be many vendor booths for shopping.

Easter Pageant

What started as a vision of the reenactment of Christ’s life has become a large-scale performance on the Rockwell Ranch 14 miles southwest of Arnold. A group of fellow believers responded to John Rockwell’s vision, and the first performance was held in 2002. There have since been four more performances in 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010. That is the wonder of God’s work. With a cast and support crew of well over 100 people, the entire community of Arnold churches is involved, as well as many people outside the Arnold area. The performances are usually held the Saturday of Easter weekend, and refreshments are served at the Rockwell Farm afterwards. There is no charge for the performances or refreshments. Hundreds of people have attended this very moving event in the past.

Garage Sales

One can always find treasure at someone’s garage sale! Each year the first Saturday in June is designated as the day for Arnold's community-wide garage sales. Watch for updates on our 2016 sales!

Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market began in Arnold in the summer of 2002. Vendors provide a wide variety of fresh baked goods, homemade jellies, fresh farm eggs, tomatoes, sweet corn and other homegrown vegetables, herbs, and fruit. New vendors are always welcome; there is no charge. The Farmer’s Market is held downtown on South Walnut Street beginning at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday starting in July. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to buy locally grown foods and delicious homemade goodies.

Christmas Around Town

Step back in time to join our townsfolk for an old-fashioned “Christmas Around Town." Stroll through our town while enjoying the ambiance of traditional holiday street décor and music in the air. Holiday lights and a craft show featuring holiday decor will be sure to spark that holiday spirit. Special shopping hours, sales, and drawings are featured at many downtown businesses, and a free movie is shown at the Rialto Theatre for the kids. Bring your family and dine at the soup and sandwich supper at the community center and enjoy a visit with Santa Claus too. Typically held the first Saturday of December.
